New Mexico Winter Activities

Even though winter is fast upon us, the mild weather we experience year-round allows us to enjoy a tremendous variety of winter activities.  If you’re into fishing, then New Mexico, with it’s year-round season for most waters, is a great place to visit.  You’ll find a broad variety of species from panfish to trout, bass and catfish, northern pike and walleye, making New Mexico one of the best places to fish in the nation. Hiking and biking are also very popular recreational activities that can be enjoyed any time of the year. From rugged mountaintops to grassy plains to the lowlands, the scenic beauty along our miles upon miles of trails is something you’ll never tire of.  Just outside of nearby Albuquerque, you’ll find the bounty of trails throughout the Sandia Mountains, or the trails across the ancient lava flows of Petroglyph National Monument.

New Mexico winter activitiesIf you’re looking for more traditional winter activities, then you’ll find those in New Mexico, too.  The state itself is home to 8 alpine and 3 nordic ski areas, all of which will provide you with the stunning scenery you’d expect in New Mexico, and the exceptional skiing and riding that you expect from top ski areas.  Nearby, downhill skiers or snowboarders will enjoy Ski Santa Fe and the Sandia Peak Ski Area, while nordic enthusiasts can explore the trails at the Enchanted Forest.  You can still enjoy the stunning views atop Sandia Peak, even if you aren’t an adrenaline-pumped outdoor enthusiast; just take a ride on the Sandia Peak Tramway, where you’ll enjoy an 11,000 panoramic view of the Rio Grande Valley from the observation deck at the top of Sandia Peak.  As you can see, the winter activities in New Mexico are plenty, and are the perfect compliment to a relaxing, romantic getaway at our historic New Mexico Bed and Breakfast Inn.  Book your stay with us today.
